In a Filipino Class at 9:00 a.m.
Hi!
I'm Sodenitte, and welcome to my blog. :)
It didn't require much effort for me to come up with the idea to start my own blogging website. The thought popped up in my mind during our 9:00 a.m. Filipino class - we were discussing the most essential and influential writers during the Revolutionary Period against the Spaniards, Americans, and the Japanese, the Period of Romanticism, and the like.
It was a class like any other, when it seemed to rather interest me how they had their own pennames - Marcelo H. Del Pilar, a writer feared by the Spanish friars due to his extreme wit and boldness, had four - Siling Labuyo, Plaridel, Dolores Manapat, and Piping Dilat. Jose Maria Panganiban, who was also known for his photographic memory and came from the small province of Camarines Sur, had his as Jomapa. Even more so, Jose Corazon de Jesus and Jose dela Cruz had theirs as Huseng Batute and Huseng Sisiw, respectively.
Don't call me simpleminded but, I thought to myself, it would be really fun if I had my own pen name.
My mind drifted as I thought of my want-to-be-and-soon-to-be-used-but-don't-know-where-yet penname. And eureka! I suddenly remembered that just a few days ago, I have been fiddling with this website I discovered through Pinterest that conjures up a random username, depending on the set preferences like language and number of letters.
I scrolled through the list of usernames I have saved in Messenger (for how could one find anything else as convenient besides that little Just You chat when it comes to note-taking), and soon enough I saw the perfect one - Sodenitte.
It was beautiful, it spoke grace, and I claimed it as my own. In its own strange yet mystical way, the word seemed to capture and reflect my persona - it was, indeed, the perfect nom de plume to express my innermost thoughts and thinkings. And the thought of using it in a blog soon followed thereafter. It felt like a moment of revelation - like a light bulb appeared right above my head, and its glow did not flicker nor grow dim, but only brighter with every passing second.
Now bursting with such zeal to accomplish this goal of mine, I felt restless as the remaining 15 minutes of our class went by. However, enthusiastic I was, I was not able to begin my blogging website until our school's summer break (which, I am so glad has finally arrived), for it was neither practical nor possible to even start this project given our hectic schedule. But despite this, I did not let the opportunity go to waste, and I've been counting suns and moons since that moment 'til the day that I can begin my blogging journey - and now it's finally here!
And thus, this only serves as the prelude for an adventure that's waiting to be unraveled, and I can't wait to share all of my stories with you!
A plan will only remain a plan without action, and I am proud to say that this goal of mine has not ended as a mere, drifting thought in a Filipino class at 9:00 a.m.
